Ambitioius Teen Benefits from 2016 Summer Work Experience Program


Moore County PY 15-16 Building Futures Youth Program

Khadijia Pride is a Moore County Building Futures youth participant who came into the program seeking training and employment assistance. Khadijia has set very high goals for herself and is proving to be on her way to achieving them. She is ambitious and focused on her goals of gaining employability skills to assist with future employment and attaining an associate’s degree. Khadijia began the Building Futures youth program in the summer of 2016 and was enrolled into the greatly beneficial Summer Work Experience at the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills. She has worked the entire summer and has not only enjoyed her job but also learned from her experience and made an impact on others.

Khadijia worked as a Program Assistant under the supervision of Program Development Director, Mr. Deon Allbrooks. Both Khadijia and Mr. Allbrooks have spoken of how constructive the Building Futures has program has been for them and the Boys & Girls Club itself. Khadijia has had the opportunity to face challenges, show initiative, and take responsibility for herself and others. She has appreciated having the opportunity to serve as an example for the youth and making a significant impact in their lives. Deon and the Boys and Girls Club have served as an excellent partner and look forward to continued successes such as Khadijia.
